UNIDIRECTIONAL RINSING OF THE WATER SYSTEM AND COLOURED WATER

Between 8 am and 4 pm, on the two days listed above, public works will carry out the rinsing of the water system.

What does the work consist of?

This involves removing particles and/or debris from the network that may form on the walls. To do this, the water circulation speed is increased, and the coloured water is discharged through the hydrants. Operations are carried out using pre-determined rinsing routes that promote better cleaning.

As a result, there may be a decrease in water pressure with or without a dark brown colouring. This can cause some inconvenience, including stains on fabrics. However, there is no health hazard.

What to do in case of brown water?

The Municipality of the Village of Hemmingford advises you to open the cold water taps and let the water run until it becomes clear.

Since this is a major operation throughout the city, your water may be brown at various intervals. However, you will be able to wash fabrics and dishes outside the hours mentioned above.

Note: If light clothing is found to be stained by water discolouration when cleaning fire hydrants or at any other time of the year when a disruptive event to the system has occurred, be advised that the clothing should not be washed again with bleach in this case. We therefore invite residents to come to the municipal office to obtain a cleaning product against colouration before making any attempt to remove the stain.
