Dogs and licenses

When a dog is wearing his tag and gets lost, it's much easier to find his owner!

According to regulation no. 127, you have the obligation to register your dog(s) with the municipality.

Attach the tag issued by the municipality to your dog's collar.

Tags are available at the municipal office, and the cost of registration is $10 per dog per year. The fees will then be automatically added to your municipal tax account.

A limit of two (2) dogs only will be permitted per household within the limits of the Village of Hemmingford.

Wild animals

For wild animals, such as raccoons, skunks or foxes, disoriented, abnormally aggressive or paralyzed, please call Service Québec at: 1-877-644-4545 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Surveillance of wild animals, in particular raccoons, is essential to follow the progression of rabies in southern Quebec. In the event of exposure to a potentially infected animal, contact the Info-Santé service at 811.

The SPCA Roussillon advises you!

What to do if you come across wildlife:

  • In distress? If the animal has difficulty moving because it seems injured or sick, contact the SPCA Roussillon at 450-638-9698 to have a patroller assist it.
  • Deceased? Report its precise location to the SPCA Roussillon at 450-638-9698 or  so that it can be picked up.
  • Orphan? His mother is probably around. Avoid intervening and watch from a distance. If it seems indeed abandoned, report it to the SPCA Roussillon at 450-638-9698.
  • In perfect health? You don't need to intervene. Cohabitation is the best solution to preserve the biodiversity and richness of our environment.
